Bill Withers Collection
This collection spotlights Inductee Bill Withers, a leading figure in the black singer-songwriter movement. Bill Withers mastered a wide range of musical styles, such as acoustic singer-songwriter, R&B, blues and even mainstream jazz. His most enduring hit, “Lean On Me” (1972), is a rallying cry for unity and support. He was also a great storyteller, ranging from the celebration of everyday beauty (“Lovely Day”, 1977) to the challenges faced from Vietnam veterans (“I Can’t Write Left-Handed”, 1973).
This collection is presented in collaboration with YOUnison.org and the Worldwide Day of Gratitude on April 30, 2020, honoring the first responders, frontline healthcare workers, and all those who are putting their lives on the line to keep us safe.
